Boxing: Naito keeps WBC flyweight title

TOKYO — Daisuke Naito of Japan successfully defended his WBC flyweight title on Wednesday with a technical knockout of Tomonobu Shimizu.

Naito was on the defensive in the opening rounds but quickly recovered and stopped Shimizu in the 10th round with a flurry of punches for his third title defense.

Naito improved to a record of 33 wins (21KOs), two defeats and three draws.

Also, Takefumi Sakata defended his WBA flyweight title with a unanimous decision over Hiroyuki Hisataka.

Sakata improved to 33-4 with two draws. The judges scored the fight 116-112, 117-111, 118-111.
