New dining, retail options for Honolulu airport

Advertiser Staff

Travelers using Honolulu International Airport have more shopping and dining options with the opening of three new restaurants and a consumer electronics store.

Kona Brewing, offering a variety of pupu, salads, pizzas, and desserts — as well as ales and lagers — opened this week in the center of the main terminal.

Also in the main terminal, Samurai Sushi recently opened, offering sushi and bentos. In the interisland terminal travelers can now dine at Island Brews & Pizza.

Another addition to the interisland terminal is the Flight Deck, a kiosk located across from Gate 56 offering various electronic and office accessories, as well as gift items and products for traveling comfort.

"We are very pleased with thee new additional concessions providing more dining and shopping options to our visitors as well as our residents," said Brian Sekiguchi, Department of Transportation deputy director, airports division.

The additions are part of the statewide airports modernization plan. Earlier this year, Dewar's Clubhouse opened in Honolulu International Airport's main terminal, and Gordon Biersch Restaurant and Brewery opened in the 'Ewa Concourse.

At Kahului Airport on Maui, Sammy's Beach Bar & Grill, an island-style cafe developed in partnership with Maui resident and rock singer Sammy Hagar, is scheduled to open in August.
