Advertiser News Services

Honolulu pro Tadd Fujikawa shot a 3-over-par 75 Thursday in the first round of the Japan Golf Tour's Sun Chlorella Classic at Otaru Country Club in Hokkaido.

Akio Sadakata was the clubhouse leader with a 69 with several golfers yet to complete their rounds.

Fujikawa, a 17-year-old Moanalua High student, bogeyed the par-4 No. 1 and par-5 No. 6, but birdied the par-5 No. 9 to make the turn at 1-over 37. He also bogeyed Nos. 14 and 16, both par-4s.

The low 60 scores and ties will make the cut after Friday's second round.

Fujikawa is playing in his fourth Japan Golf Tour event this year. He finished tied for 48th at The Crowns and tied for 65th at the Munsingwear Open KSB Cup, both in May. He missed the cut at last week's Nagashima Shigeo Invitational Sega Sammy Cup.
