SPRECKELSVILLE
Public meeting on plan to restore eroding beach

A public information meeting will be held today on a proposed beach restoration project at Stable Road in Spreckelsville, an area subject to extreme erosion from seasonal sand movement.

The meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Kaunoa Senior Center.

The state Department of Land and Natural Resources is reviewing an application filed by the Stable Road Beach Restoration Foundation for a small-scale beach nourishment permit. Also required for the project is a biological monitoring plan, sand-source approval and water quality certification from the Department of Health's Clean Water Branch.

If approved, the project is expected to start next summer.
