Children diagnosed with life-threatening diseases will be treated to some beach activities in Waikiki at the 5th annual Surf 4 HUGS event Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The staging area is at Kuhio Beach near the Duke Kahanamoku statue.

Experts will help teach the kids to surf, give the families canoe rides and each child will receive a commemorative photo of the day. The event not only includes ill children but also their siblings and parents.
