NFL: Panther No. 1 pick Stewart out of protective boot

Associated Press

The Carolina Panthers No. 1 draft pick Jonathan Stewart, a running back from Oregon, is out of the protective boot and is expected to be ready by training camp July 24, according to the Charlotte Observer.

However, Stewart won't participate in offseason training actitivies this month, and not just because of his toe injury.

School at Oregon, which uses the quarter system, is still in session, and NFL rules don't allow players to participate in OTAs until classes have ended.
