Mutual Assistance Associations Center in Palolo Valley has received a $35,000 Community Based Economic Development grant from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs to provide computer training and life skills for youth and adults.

Through its Community Technology Center in the Palolo District Park Gymnasium, MAAC teaches children, teenagers and young adults from Palolo Valley public schools the basics of computer usage and special tutorial programs. They are also given life skills training. Evening vocational classes and job search services are provided for adults.

"We are very pleased to receive this award from OHA," stated Milton Hutchison, Executive Director. "The grant will be used to pay for staffing for MAAC's Community Technology Center. We are deeply grateful to OHA for their support and we look forward to working with them on more projects for the benefit of Native Hawaiians," he said.
