Waimanalo man blows shot at staying out of prison

Advertiser Staff

A 23-year-old Waimanalo man with 20 criminal convictions since March 2003 has apparently lost a court-granted chance at HOPE.

Mark Dwayne DeBarge II was arrested yesterday in Kailua on four probation revocation warrants and a fifth was added today at Circuit Court for violating terms and conditions of Hawai'i's Opportunity for Probation with Enforcement program, which promises swift returns to prison for violations of the rules of probation.

At a resentencing in March 2008 for auto theft, DeBarge was placed on probation for five years provided he complied with conditions of the HOPE project.
