HAWAI'I KAI
Plate lunch fundraiser raises $8,250 for July 4

A plate lunch fundraiser held last month to benefit the Independence Day at Maunalua Bay 4th of July Fireworks show sold 550 lunches and raised $8,250.

The plate lunches were donated by Outback Steakhouse in Hawai'i Kai and distributed on May 25 by members of the Hawai'i Kai Chamber of Commerce.

Members of the Independence Day at Maunalua Bay Foundation, which is organizing the first-time fireworks celebration in Hawai'i Kai, said the group is still shy about $10,000 of the $100,000 it needs to put on the event.

Independence Day at Maunalua Bay will feature live music, food booths, games for keiki and fireworks starting at 2 p.m. on July 4.
