Swimming pool association to discuss new safety law

Advertiser Staff

The Swimming Pool Association of Hawaii will discuss a new federal law that requires public pools and spas to have safety drain covers at its monthly meeting June 10.

The new law is intended prevent deaths and injuries that occur in swimming pools. But the measure has created a lot of confusion among pool owners and homeowners associations as to what is required of them.

Jon Deluca, SPAH president, said the association's meeting will feature an expert on the new law, which takes effect Dec. 19.

The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. and will be on the second floor of the Victoria Inn restaurant in Kaimuki. The public is welcomed to attend the meeting.
