Hawaiian Airlines to add four jets to interisland service

Hawaiian Airlines today announced a major expansion of its interisland service with the addition of four Boeing 717-200 jets.
The state's largest airline said new aircraft will increase its interisland fleet to 15 Boeing aircraft.
Two of the four jets — which are being acquired on long-term leases from Boeing Capital Corp. — will begin flying in September. The remaining aircraft will begin flying in November and December.
The expansion comes after the state's No. 2 carrier, Aloha Airlines, shut down its passenger service on March 31.
"This substantial investment in more interisland aircraft reaffirms Hawaiian's long-term commitment to serving the people of Hawai'i, and will allow us to increase our flight schedules during periods of the day that our customers prefer to travel," said Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian's chief executive officer.
