A near-perfect season by Waipahu in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association White Conference resulted in a six-player all-star bounty for the Marauders after recent voting by league coaches.

Junior pitcher Kaimi Haina led the way by being named Player of the Year.

In 20 1/3 innings pitched, Haina went 3-0 with a 0.52 earned run average, 34 strikeouts and five walks. That included a shutout victory over Kalaheo in which he struck out 12, and a one-hitter with nine strikeouts against Radford during the regular season.

Haina also was a threat at the plate, batting .410.

In the White championship game against Radford, Haina pitched a five-hitter with 11 strikeouts, and hit a double.

Waipahu, which won the White title with a 12-0-1 record, also placed first baseman Aldrin Padilla, second baseman Jensen Rios, third baseman Samuel Chee, outfielder Eric Hudson and catcher Ignatius Mackenzie on the all-star first team.

Kahuku (9-4) and Kalaheo (10-3) each placed three players on the first team.

Kahuku was represented by shortstop Jordan Kamae, pitcher Steve Van Ness and utility player RJ Van Ness. Kalaheo placed designated hitter Steven Vega and outfielders Alika Ka'anapu and Kord Walls.

Waipahu's Milton Takenaka was named Coach of the Year.
