Warning siren near airport to be tested today

The City's Department of Emergency Management, in conjunction with Hawaii State Civil Defense, will test the outdoor warning siren at the Corner of Aolele Street.and Aolewa Place between 9 a.m. and noon today.

The test is to ensure that the siren is operates at full power and provides optimal range.

People near the airport and the surrounding community may hear several 20-second siren soundings during the testing period.

Hawaii State Civil Defense pays for the purchase and installation of these sirens.

Once installed, they are released to the city for monthly testing and emergency activation.
