Repair work slated at Kula forest reserved

Advertiser Staff

The Kula state forest reserve and Polipoli State Park will be closed Monday through Wednesday and again from June 16-20 for repairs to the forest access road, the state Department of Land & Natural Resources said today.

The reserve will be open for public use on weekends.

"These closure periods are needed to ensure public safety while we repair damaged portions of the road that were impacted by our fire suppression efforts in January 2007 and by flood damage in December 2007," said Laura H. Thielen, DLNR chairperson.

The repairs are part of phase one of a two-year effort to restore damaged areas in the forest reserve.
