Weather: Morning showers, afternoon sun

A high pressure area far northeast of the state will keep the trade winds blowing at at least a moderate pace this weekend, the National Weather Service said.

The winds are expected to decrease a bit by Tuesday, forecasters said.

A low pressure area that is departing the area near the Islands will produce a bit of cloudiness and rain showers across Kauai and Oahu this morning, with clearing expected by this afternoon.

Other showers will favor windward and mauka areas as well as leeward sections of the Big Island during the afternoon areas.

Here's a closer look at what to expect during the next few days:

Today: Scattered showers, mainly before noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 85. East wind between 9 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Tonight: Increasing clouds, with a low around 71. East wind around 11 mph.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 86. East wind around 14 mph.

Sunday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind around 11 mph.

Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 85. East wind around 14 mph.

Monday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. East wind around 11 mph.
