State highway crews tonight finished cleaning up a rockslide on Kaua'i which had forced the closing of Kuhio Highway near Waikoko in Hanalei for about 3 1/2 hours.

State Department of Transportation spokeswoman Tammy Mori said the roadway was reopened between 7:30 and 8 p.m., and officials will assess the hillside conditions tomorrow.

The slide was reported at about 4 p.m., and boulders and debris blocked the northbound lane of the highway, she said.
