Police last night arrested a felon wanted for questioning in an investigation of the killing of a 19-year-old man in Kane'ohe.

Glenn J. Keohokapu Jr., 35, was arrested shortly after 7 p.m. by Windward O'ahu Crime Reduction Unit and Specialized Services officers fronting his Ka'aiai Street residence in Waimanalo.

He was booked on suspicion of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of 19-year-old Steven Wilcox, also of Waimanalo, early yesterday in Kane'ohe.

Police had been staking out the Waimanalo home where Keohokapu was believed to be and arrested him when he came out of the residence.

Keohokapu has 19 prior convictions, according to Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center records. He was recently released from prison. In April 2003, he was sentenced to five years confinement with a two-year mandatory minimum sentence for third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug.

Keohokapu also has felony convictions for second-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and felony shoplifting. His criminal record dates back to December 1991.

Wilcox was stabbed in a parking lot outside of Club Komomai. Witnesses told police Wilcox had intervened in an argument between the suspect and his girlfriend after Keohokapu allegedly struck her.

An autopsy yesterday listed cause of death as a stab wound to the chest and manner of death as homicide.

Wilcox was pronounced dead at 12:58 a.m. at Castle Medical Center after he was stabbed with a folding knife at 12:31 a.m.
