Sea Talk series tonight on Maui with Kahumoku

Advertiser Staff

The Maui Ocean Center's free Sea Talk series resumes tonight with entertainer George Kahumoku, Jr. discussing his love for the ocean, Hawaiian culture and his music.

The second part of tonight's 6 p.m. series will be held Sept. 22.

Tonight, Kahumoku, a Grammy award winner, will translate and discuss the meanings of Hawaiian songs relating to the ocean.

Kahumoku has been called Hawai`i's Renaissance man: master slack key guitarist, songwriter, world-wide performer, high school teacher, former principal, sculptor, story-teller and a farmer so in tune with his islands that he has won several state and national awards for his work with the land.

For reservations or more information call 270-7089.

Sea Talks are held in the Open Ocean exhibit at Maui Ocean Center.
