An 84-year-old woman who was run over and pinned under a tractor-trailer in front of the Kahala Chevron gas station this morning has died.

The woman was apparently run over by the right front tires of the Coca-Cola delivery truck and then partially run over by the next set of tires on the tractor portion of the tractor-trailer. The driver of the truck had to back up to free the woman, a witness said.

Troy Hotz, 36, manager of the station, saw the woman get hit and dashed over to help.

He said she was answering his questions, but was badly injured.

"It was tough to see," he said.

The accident happened about 8:43 a.m.

The woman was initially taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition, Emergency Medical Services spokesman Bryan Cheplic said. The medical examiner's office said the 84-year-old was pronounced dead at 11:32 a.m. at Queen's.

The 37-year-old driver of the truck was not injured.

Hotz said the driver had just made a delivery at the station when he hit the woman pulling out of the Chevron onto Wai'alae Avenue. He said the driver was a regular.
