Meeting set for June 18 on Nuuanu sewer work

Advertiser Staff

The City's Department of Design and Construction will hold a public meeting on the upcoming Nuuanu sewer project at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at the Kawananakoa Middle School cafeteria.

The City will be working on selected sewer lines in the upper and lower Nuuanu areas and sections of Liliha Street as part of a major program to rehabilitate Honolulu's aging sewer system.

The work involves either replacing existing lines with new ones or performing in-place rehabilitation. Replacement or upsizing of sewer lines will be done by conventional, open-cut trenching.

Temporary bypass sewer lines will be installed to maintain sewer services during the work. The work will affect traffic, noise, and air quality, city officials said.
