TOKYO — Japan's Hozumi Hasegawa defeated Uruguay's Cristian Faccio by technical knockout in the second round Thursday to retain his WBC bantamweight title.

Hasegawa, making his sixth title defense, dominated from the start and won with a left hook that sent Faccio to the canvas midway through the second round.

Hasegawa improved to 24-2 with seven KOs, while Faccio dropped to 15-3.
