PEARL CITY
Library hosts free events for keiki reading program

The Pearl City Public Library is scheduled to host several free programs this summer as part of the state library system's Children's Summer Reading Program.

On June 16 at 1 p.m., the library will host "Rainbow Pigeons with Doug Beter," a presentation discussing different breeds of pastel-colored pigeons and the stages of their growth. After the presentation, "Uncle Doug" will invite the audience outside to watch the pigeons "fly home."

The library will also feature "Preschool Storytimes" on Wednesdays from June 18 through July 16. The storytimes will feature bug-themed stories read aloud, finger plays, sing-along songs with Ms. Vicky and simple crafts with Mrs. Lisa. The program is for children ages 3 and older with a parent or caregiver.

Call the library two weeks in advance if a sign language interpreter or other special accommodation is needed for these programs.

Pearl City Public Library is located at 1138 Waimano Home Road. For more information on these programs, call the library at 453-6566.
