Public can comment on Koke'e lease legislation

The Governor's Kaua'i Community Advisory Council will hear public comments Tuesday on bills passed by the Legislature and under review by Gov. Linda Lingle.

The session will focus on HB2872 SD2 CD2, which relates to the Koke'e recreational residences. The bill requires the state to negotiate with existing leaseholders about renewal terms and establishes a Koke'e State Park Advisory Council.

The meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. June 17 at the Moikeha Building, meeting rooms 2A and B, 4444 Rice St.

The governor must give notice by June 23 of any bills she is considering vetoing. Any bills not vetoed or signed by the governor by July 8 will become law without her signature.
