Motorcyclist killed on Likelike identified

Advertiser Staff

The Honolulu Medical Examiner's office has identified the 18-year-old man who died after crashing his motorcycle on the Likelike Highway yesterday morning as Christian Cambra of Honolulu.

Police said Cambra was headed south on the Likelike Highway at 3:07 a.m. when he apparently lost control of his 1992 Honda motorcycle at a bend in the roadway north of the H-1 Freeway and Kalihi Street split. The motorcycle struck the right guardrail and Cambra slid several feet on the guardrail before being ejected, police said.

Cambra suffered apparent internal, right arm, head, torso and leg injuries. Speed was believed to be a factor, police said. He was not wearing a helmet.

Emergency Medical Services personnel pronounced him dead at 3:37 a.m.

Cambra was the fifth traffic fatality on Oahu since June 5 and 22nd this year compared to 36 at the same time last year.
