Man wards off attacker with chair

Advertiser Staff

A 28-year-old man was arrested for first-degree robbery after he allegedly struck a man with his skateboard, pulled a knife on him and demanded his wallet last night.

The 54-year-old male victim was downtown sitting on a chair when the suspect approached him and told him to leave the area, police said. The suspect allegedly then swung his skateboard at the victim, hitting him in the hand, and pulled a knife and demanded his wallet.

The victim was able to fend him off by using his chair until witnesses intervened and police arrived.
