Weather: Trades due to make a return tomorrow

A weather system west of the state has diminished trade winds across the islands, the National Weather Service said.

Cloud cover and showers will linger over Kaua'i this morning before moving off to the northwest later today, forecasters said.

Trade winds will be back on the upswing starting Wednesday, becoming fresh to locally strong on Thursday and persisting into the weekend to help cool things off a bit and reduce the mugginess.

Here's a more detailed look at the next few days:

Today: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 85. East wind around 8 mph becoming southwest. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Isolated showers before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 85. East wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday Night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 86. East wind around 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday Night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
