Lanai panel to be briefed on aquaculture plan

Advertiser Staff

Lana'i City – The Governor's Lana'i Community Advisory Council will hear a presentation at its next meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, at the Lana'i Senior Center in Lana'i City by Maui Fresh Fish LLC about the company's plans to lease approximately 100 acres of ocean space one mile off the South shore of Lana'i for an aquaculture venture. The public is invited to attend.

A question-and-answer period will follow the presentation.

Gov. Linda Lingle created community advisory councils to give the neighbor islands a stronger voice in state government. The Lana'i Community Advisory Council holds monthly public meetings on the fourth Tuesday of each month to seek community input and advise the governor of important issues. The advisory council also identifies program priorities and recommends potential nominees from Lana'i to serve on state boards and commissions.

The members of the Lana'i Advisory Council are Christine Costales, Darlene Endrina, Michael Lopez, Matthew Mano and Douglas Rolefson.
