Associated Press

DEN BOSCH, Netherlands — Top-seeded Spaniard David Ferrer advanced to the Ordina Open semifinals with a 6-4, 7-6 (4) win over Mario Ancic 6-4, 7-6 today.

Ancic was on a 12-match win streak at Den Bosch after winning the tournament in 2005 and 2006, but missed last year due to illness.

Ferrer will face unseeded Argentine teenager Juan Martin Del Porto in the semifinals. Del Porto served 13 aces and beat Frenchman Arnaud Clement of France in another quarterfinal 2-6, 6-3, 6-1.

Among the women, top-seeded Elena Dementieva of Russia beat 18-year-old Romanian Sorana Cirstea 6-2, 6-4.

Eighth-seeded Kateryna Bondarenko of Ukraine upset second-seeded Anna Chakvetadze, the defending champion, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.
