South Korea's Jennifer Song won the last two holes to defeat Honolulu's Stephanie Kono, 2 up, in the semifinals of the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links tournament at Erin Hills Golf Course in Erin, Wis.

Song faces Tiffany Joh of San Diego in tomorrow's 36-hole match play final. Joh beat Tiffany Lua, of Rowland Heights, Calif., 4 and 3, in the other semifinal.

With the match all square, Song won the par-4 No. 17 with a par and the par-5 No. 18 with a birdie.

Neither golfer could take more than a 1 up lead until the final hole.

Song won the second hole for a 1 up lead, but Kono squared it by winning No. 3. The match remained tied until Kono took a 1 up lead with a birdie on the par-3 No. 9. Song tied with a par on the par-3 No. 13 and went 1 up with an eagle on the par-5 No. 14. Kono squared the match with a par on the par-4 No. 15.

"I didn't play aggressively," Song said. "I just said, 'Make pars and then if I have a chance or (if Kono made a mistake) just try to make birdie and play it safely.' "

Earlier today, Kono defeated Michelle Shin of Cape Coral, Fla., 5 and 4, to advance to the semifinals. Song beat Lauren Doughtie, 4 and 3.

After losing the par-5 first hole with a bogey, Kono squared the match with a birdie at the par-5 No. 3 and never trailed thereafter. She went 1 up with a win on the par-4 No. 4. Shin won the par-4 No. 8 with a birdie to square the match, but Kono won the next four holes to take control. She closed it out with a birdie on the par-5 No. 14.
