Weather: Mostly sunny with a few rain showers

The mostly pleasant trade wind weather will continue for the next week, the National Weather Service said today.

Occasional clouds and brief showers will favor windward and mountain areas during night and morning hours, forecasters said.

Leeward areas are expected to be mostly clear although clouds and a few showers will develop over the Kona slopes each afternoon.

The trades will back off a bit on Sunday and remain moderate for most of the new week as a high pressure area north of the state moves off to the east.

Here's how the next few days look:

Today...Sunny. Isolated showers in the morning. Highs 81 to 87. East winds 15 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tonight...Mostly clear with isolated showers. Lows 65 to 75. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Sunday...Mostly sunny. Isolated showers in the morning. Highs 80 to 87. East winds 15 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Sunday Night...Mostly clear with isolated showers. Lows 66 to 75. East winds 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Monday...Sunny. Highs 80 to 88. East winds 15 to 20 mph.

Monday Night...Mostly clear with isolated showers. Lows 66 to 75. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
