Likely Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama and Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann met today during the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Miami, where Obama pledged his continuing support for Honolulu's rail transit project.

In return, Hannemann reiterated his support to Obama, who was born in Hawai'i, for his presidential bid.

In a luncheon speech Obama assured the gathering of mayors that, as president, he would work to address the needs and concerns of American cities.
