Things to do around Oahu today

Advertiser Staff

If you've already done the State Fair, then check out the new ride at the Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park today, which has been dubbed "Family Fun Day," and all proceeds will benefit the YMCA.

The ride is pretty cool, too. "The Tornado" will send riders spiraling for a wet and fun ride. It's $37.99 to enter the park, which is open from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Today is also a chance to hop on the rides at the State Fair and check out Kaba Modern, the dance crew that captivated the public during the first season of America's Best Dance Crew. Mix in food booth, other entertainment and shows, and there isn't a better value around today. The concert is at 7:30 p.m.

Other notes of interest today:

— The free HRA shooting sports fair is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Koko Head Shooting Complex. There's a chance to learn to shoot and handle various firearms.

— Art lovers can check out Artfest at Kapi'olani Park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free event features handcrafted products by local artists, food and entertainment.

— A great way to spend today, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., is to head to the O Lounge and take part in a fundraiser for 13-year-old Christian Mahuna, who is recovering from a hit-and-run. Tickets are $25 and proceeds go toward her medical expenses and recovery.
