SUNDAY'S MUST-SEES

"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," 7 p.m., ABC. Here's a rerun of the two-parter in which the show helped its 100th family. It's an ambitious project. Eight of the previous families show up to help.

"Masterpiece Mystery" season-opener, "Inspector Lewis: Whom the Gods Would Destroy," 8 p.m., PBS. Eight years after the final "Inspector Morse" film was made, the series sort of returns. Morse is gone and Robert Lewis — his quiet assistant for 13 years — is in charge. Lewis (Kevin Whately) has working-guy instincts. That's clear in this well-crafted episode, in which all the suspects are Oxford grads. His assistant (Laurence Fox) has a prep-school background. They probe an ugly case, amid quiet, campus beauty.

OF NOTE

"The Girl With Eight Limbs," 6 p.m., National Geographic Channel. With a partly formed twin, a little girl in India was born with extra, non-functioning legs and arms. She was named after Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of wealth, who is depicted with four arms. Some people considered her holy; this beautifully filmed (but painful) documentary follows her parents as they consider surgery.

Gymnastics, 6 p.m., NBC. Here's the second half of the U.S. women's finals, in Philadelphia. At stake are spots on the Olympic team.

"When We Left Earth," 6 p.m., Discovery Channel. This excellent, six-hour miniseries wraps up with a look at modern missions, including the international space shuttles.

"The Two Coreys" seasonopener, 7 and 7:30 p.m., A&E. Former teen stars Corey Feldman and Corey Haim had a fierce falling out last season. Now Haim tries to revive his shattered career and their friendship. This is tough to watch because of Haim's pain and the posturing on both sides. And it will get darker ahead.

"Desperate Housewives," 9 p.m., ABC. During chemotherapy, Lynette gets help via marijuana-laced brownies.
