Donations sought for Philippines following typhoon

Advertiser Staff

The Aloha Medical Mission is seeking monetary donations to send medicine and emergency supplies to the Philippines, which was hit Saturday by Typhoon Fengshen.

The storm has left 163 people dead in the central Philippines. Officials were also searching for hundreds of people believed to be aboard the Princess of Stars ferry, which capsized in the storm.

The Aloha Medical Mission just returned last week from a mission to the Philippines and is keeping in touch with officials to determine whether a team needs to return, said mission president Dr. Antonio Tan.

But in the meantime, the mission is collecting donations so it can send medicine and supplies.

Donations may be sent to: Aloha Medical Mission Typhoon Fund, 810 N. Vineyard Blvd., Honolulu, HI 96817. For more information about the mission, visit www.alohamedicalmission.org.
