Extra tools needed to free Kahuku accident victim

Advertiser Staff

Firefighters tonight needed three Amkus extrication saws to free a woman from a car involved in a collision on Kamehameha Highway near Romy's Kahuku Prawn & Fish.

The woman was in a car that collided with a utility pole at 8:58 p.m. She was removed from the vehicle at 9:46 p.m., said Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Earle Kealoha.

The woman was turned over to city Emergency Medical Services personnel at the scene, Kealoha said.

Police said the injuries appeared to be serious but not critical.

Traffic on Kamehameha Highway in the area is being contra-flowed, police said.
