Advertiser Staff

Hawaiian quilts and kapa, Indonesian and Cambodian textiles and Japanese kimono will be among the items on display as Honolulu arts organizations mount exhibitions for the 11th Biennial Textile Society of America Symposium set for September 24-27 at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel.

Museums, galleries and other venues will host 24 exhibitions that are expected to draw an international crowd of textile curators, scholars, dealers experts and students.

The "Textiles as Cultural Expressions" event is being coordinated by Tom Klobe, Director Emeritus of the University of Hawaii Art Gallery, and Reiko Brandon, fiber artist and former Curator of Textiles at the Honolulu Academy of Arts.

The conference and Textile Marketlace are open to the public. Information is available at www.textilesociety.org.
