Teen actress Kay Panabaker to appear at Hawaii kids film fest

By Kawehi Haug

Teen actress Kay Panabaker is scheduled to make a meet-and-greet appearance at a local screening of her film "Moondance Alexander."

The film is one of the selections in this year's Kids First! Film Festival, an annual kid-centric cinema event sponsored by the University of Hawaii Outreach College and Starwood Hotels.

"Moondance Alexander," the story of a teenage girl who sees the hidden racing potential in a lost horse, will be shown Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Waikiki.

Panabaker will be signing autographs poolside at the hotel from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

The Sheraton is literally rolling out the red carpet for kids and their families, making the event a half-pint Oscar-like soiree with an outdoor poolside screen, games and prize giveaways. The grand-prize winner will receive a two-night stay in an oceanfront suite at the Sheraton Waikiki, a $250 dining certificate and a catamaran ride for four.

Panabaker has also starred in the television drama "Summerland," has had guest roles on popular Disney Channel series "Phil of the Future" and "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody" and currently plays Lindsay Willows, the daughter of Marg Helgenberger's character on "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation."

The film screening and the events are free.
