Cherry Blossom Festival looking for next queen

The Honolulu Japanese Junior Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for the 57th Cherry Blossom Festival queen.

Aug. 1 is the deadline for applications.

The queen and her court will be crowned at the Cherry Blossom Festival Ball in March 2009. Winners will also participate in events on the Mainland and travel to Japan for a two-week goodwill tour.

Applicants must have at least 50 percent Japanese ancestry, be between 19 and 26 years old, and be single, U.S. citizens and Hawai'i residents. A completed registration form, proof of Japanese ancestry and a $25 application fee is required.
