The University of Hawai'i's 2008 pay-per-view package is expected to include a record 10 to 11 football games in what a spokesman says is shaping up as "the best package we've ever had."

Final details, along with an expected price rise, could be announced next week, according to John Fink, vice president and general manager of KFVE/KHNL, which operates the seven-year-old venture in partnership with UH and Oceanic Time Warner Cable.

If it includes the Aug. 30 football season opener with Florida — which UH associate athletic director John McNamara said looks "very promising" — the package could cover all but two of the Warriors' 13 games.

As a Florida home game, the Warriors-Gators game falls under the Southeastern Conference contract and will be shown by Raycom Sports in 57 markets, primarily in the South.

ESPN, which gets first pick under its contract with the Western Athletic Conference, said it plans to show UH's Oct. 17 game at Boise State and either the Nov. 29 Washington State or Dec. 6 Cincinnati game. Both of those are at Aloha Stadium.

Last year, only eight of the Warriors' 13 regular-season games were part of the 19-event package. Women's volleyball and men's basketball events also will be included in this year's package, McNamara said.

UH has announced that fans who renew or purchase season tickets prior to July 18 will receive at least a 50 percent discount on a special road pay-per-view package. The final amount of the discount has yet to be determined, McNamara said.

Fink said pay-per-view prices are expected to rise for 2008 but that the amount has yet to be determined. Last year, O'ahu pay-per-view subscribers paid $330 to $380 for the package, depending on whether they were new or return customers.

UH realized $794,000 from its share of pay-per-view revenues last season.
