Advertiser Staff

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree theft at 7 Saturday night after he allegedly was caught pocketing $800 during his shift at a retail store in Pearl City.

According to police reports the employee at Sears on Kamehameha Highway was observed taking money from a cash register throughout his shift and pocketing it.

After the end of his shift, the suspect exited the store but was stopped by security guards and escorted back in.

Store personnel then confronted the suspect, whom police said removed $800 from his pocket. He was arrested and released pending investigation.
