Kauai drive-by shooting suspect charged

Advertiser Staff

A 26-year-old man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder in connection with a Friday night drive-by shooting at a McDonald's restaurant in Kapa'a, Kaua'i.

The man, who was not identified, was being held without bail at the police cellblock in Lihu'e, authorities said today. A boy, 17, arrested with the man, has been sent to the Alder Street juvenile detention facility in Honolulu pending Family Court action.

The pair were arrested at Lydgate Park shortly after the 11 p.m. shooting was reported.

The suspects were southbound on Kuhio Highway in a silver-colored sedan from which two shots were allegedly fired while customers were in the restaurant, police said.

No one was injured, but the restaurant was damaged.
