Big Island police are seeking to locate a California man who was last seen last Aug. 12 at a friend's home in the Fern Acres subdivision in upper Puna.

Sean Ryan, who suffers from a medical condition requiring medication, is not being sought for any criminal matter in Hawai'i or elsewhere, and family members who are visiting Hawai'i to establish he is safe want him to know they have no intention of taking him from the island, said acting Lt. Richard Sherlock of the Area 1 Criminal Investigations Section.

Anyone with information on Ryan's whereabouts can call the police department's nonemergency number at 935-3311 or Big Island CrimeStoppers at 808-961-8300 in Hilo or 808-329-8181 in Kona.
