Kauai man arrested on threatening, firearms charges

NAWILIWILI – A 36 year-old Kapa'a man was taken into police custody on Kaua'i Friday after allegedly threatening two crew members of the Pride of Aloha and assaulting a police officer outside Nawiliwili Tavern early yesterday morning.

Uasi Musika was charged with two counts of first degree terroristic threatening, first degree assault against a police officer, carrying a firearm and resisting arrest.

According to police, one of the crew members left the tavern and was walking back to the ship when he saw police officers in the area and reported what happened.

The officers went to the scene and located a man at the entrance to the tavern that fit the description provided.

While the suspect was being questioned, he attempted to flee and a struggle ensued, police said. After a brief struggle, the officers were able to gain control and subdue him.

A shoulder harness and a holster, along with a loaded handgun were recovered from the suspect, police said

Bail for Musika is set at $25,100.
