Tadd Fujikawa rallied with two birdies in the final three holes yesterday, but failed to make a pro cut for the 11th time at the PGA Tour's Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Fujikawa, who shot 8-over 78 Thursday, shot a 76 yesterday and finished last in the field.

Fujikawa, a 17-year-old Moanalua High junior, birdied the par-4 16th and the par-5 18th but couldn't overcome four bogeys. He also bogeyed the second hole and birdied the third hole for nines of 39-37.

Fujikawa, whose success at the 2007 Sony Open in January launched a pro career at age 16, has yet to make a cut since turning pro last July.

For his two rounds, Fujikawa had four birdies, four bogeys and seven double bogeys.

Yamauchi won a gold medal for his snatch of 242 pounds, and a silver for the clean and jerk of 306 pounds.

The competition is being held this weekend in conjunction with the Arnold Schwarzenegger Sports Festival, a multi-sport event that includes Olympic weightlifting, bodybuilding, powerlifting and 15 other sports.

Frick won his second diving event of the championships, capturing the 3-meter with a score of 392.45. Mats Wiktorsson finished third with 369.45.

Maxwell won the 100-yard butterfly in 47.90 seconds, setting a pool record at the CRWC Natatorium. Greg Wilson placed third.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Davis Kane, Mark Higley, Miha Grzina and Ilia Reyes finished second in 1:22.33.

Also taking silver medals were Grzegorz Mroz in the 200 freestyle in 1:37.59 and Maxwell in the 100 backstroke in 48.58.

FRICK AIMS AT OLYMPICS

University of Hawai'i senior Magnus Frick earned an Olympic qualifying spot for his home country of Sweden during Monday's 3-meter springboard "B Final" at the 2008 FINA World Diving Cup in Beijing.

Frick placed seventh in a field of 37 divers, with a score of 409.60. Now Frick must wait to see if the Swedish Swimming Federation and Swedish Olympic Committee name him to the 2008 Olympic Team.

"This is a great day for Hawai'i diving, having a Rainbow diver qualify for the Olympics is wonderful," UH diving coach Mike Brown said. "Magnus just performed his two best lists ever at the world level, and showed that he deserves to be among the world's best divers at the Olympic Games."
