Merchant Street between Bishop and Alakea streets was closed to traffic today at about 3:30 p.m. due to a police investigation into the fall of a person onto the roadway.

A woman was pronounced dead at 3:28 p.m., according to Honolulu Emergency Services spokesman Bryan Cheplic.
