OPERATION POLIHALE — The Division of State Parks and Leadership Kaua'i welcome volunteers to work with Pi'ina Hoku youth program in Operation Polihale 8 a.m.-noon Saturday and April 12. Work includes cleanup, plant trimming, fixture repairs, painting, replacement of vehicle barriers at Polihale State Park. Contact Leadership Kaua'i at 808-246-8727.

PALOLO SERVICE PROJECT — O'ahu Invasive Species Committee and Sierra Club will do weed control at Mau'umae Trail from 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday. Meet at Church of the Crossroads parking lot. Trip involves 45-minute hike and some off-trail weeding in steep terrain. Bring water, snacks, lunch, rain gear, sunscreen, bug repellent and sturdy walking shoes. MARSH RESTORATION — The Hawai'i Nature Center is restoring Pouhala Marsh, the largest remaining wetland in Pearl Harbor. Volunteers needed to pull pickleweed and mangrove 8:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday. Bring work gloves, water, hat, sunscreen, towel and change of clothes; covered footwear and long pants required. Contact Pauline Kawamata at 955-0100, ext. 18.

SANDY BEACH CLEANUP — Join the Sierra Club 8-10:30 a.m. Sunday for cleanup of highway and coastal areas. Bring closed-toe shoes, water, hat and sunscreen; bags, gloves provided. Participants under 18 must have signed waiver. Meet at the east restroom at Sandy Beach Park. Call 394-2898.

KALIHI NATURE PARK — Volunteers needed 8:30 a.m.-noon March 15 to help develop land-based health program for Kokua Kalihi Valley; work includes weeding, gardening, removing invasive species and replanting native forests. Meet at 3659 Kalihi St.; monthly community volunteer access days held every third Saturday.

CRATER OVERNIGHTER — The Friends of Haleakala National Park will conduct cabin maintenance, invasive species removal or other work during March 15-17 service trip to Holua Cabin. WEED & POT CLUB — Maui Nui Botanical Garden's Weed & Pot Club meets 8:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesdays at 150 Kanaloa Ave. in Kahului to weed, rake, trim or transplant nursery plants, and perform other beautification and maintenance work. Tools, gloves and drinking water provided; bring sunscreen, wear shoes.

THURSDAY WORKDAYS — Join the Nature Conservancy 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursdays at the Honouliuli Preserve in Kunia for volunteer work trips requiring hiking and moderately strenuous activity removing invasive species, clearing trails, monitoring and repairing fences.
