Mayor to present Hawaii Arts Alliance with $20K grant

Advertiser Staff

Mayor Mufi Hannemann will present a $20,000 city grant on Friday to the Hawaii Arts Alliance in support of The ARTS at Marks Garage.

The mayor and first lady Gail Mukaihata Hannemann are scheduled to present the check at 7 p.m. at The ARTS at Marks Garage.

The grant will fund the creation of additional night and weekend activities in downtown Honolulu modeled after First Fridays, art exhibits and public performances, and art classes for neighborhood residents and children. The grant was awarded by the mayor's Office of Culture and the Arts.

The ARTS at Marks Garage is a gallery and performance arts/business incubator that was established by the Hawaii Arts Alliance in 2001. It presents at least 12 exhibits in its gallery each year and hosts numerous performances.
