Kauai police rescue injured hiker

Advertiser Staff

A 64-year-old hiker was rescued Sunday night on the Nonou Mountain Trail in Wailua after falling and sustaining minor injuries, Kaua'i County officials reported today.

An area resident heard William Anderson of Nevada, who formerly lived on Kaua'i, yelling for help at about 8 p.m. and called 911.

Police Officers Danny Creamer and Christian Jenkins responded, heard Anderson's voice, hiked in and found him 10 to 15 minutes later. They assisted the man out. Anderson declined medical attention, opting to seek treatment on his own, officials said.
