Golf: Mid-Pac CC team wins event to benefit UH

The Mid-Pacific Country Club team recently won an event to benefit UH golf. The members of the team were, from left, Keiko Sueda, Wade Nakamura, Phengsavath (pro), Neal Takara and Kent Youel.

The Mid-Pacific Country Club team led by professional Joe Phengsavath captured the title at the first event of the 2008 Aloha Section PGA Foundation / Castle Resorts & Hotels Pro-Am Series that benefits the University of Hawaii Golf Team.

Phengsavath's team members were amateurs Keiko Sueda, Wade Nakamura, Neal Takara and Kent Youel. They compiled a score of 121.

The Castle Resorts team led by professional Andrew Feldmann and his team of amateurs: Mike Nitta, Lance Mizumoto, Steve Choo and Mike Masuda came in second place with a team score of 122.

Phengsavath won low pro honors with a 4-under-par 68. Regan Lee and MJ Park were tied for second with a 2-under par 70.

This was the first of three events of the 2008 season. The series of events are intended to provide a full four-year scholarship for the UH Golf program for a Hawaii resident who has a financial need.
