Kailua holds off Moanalua in opener

Reyn Matsuki pitched a five-hitter and hit a three-run homer in a five-run fifth inning as the host Kailua Surfriders beat the Moanalua Na Menehune, 8-3, yesterday in an O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red East season opener.

Ryan Kinoshita batted 3 for 4 with a double and triple, Elia Lono had two doubles, and Jordan Limahai drove in two runs for Kailua.

Zachary Wong pitched a five-hitter to lead the visiting Cougars over the Falcons. Joseph Honma and Dustin Dela Pena led Kaiser's nine-hit offense with two hits each.

Dustin Antolin pitched six scoreless innings with eight strikeouts and Jordan Queja had two hits and drove in two runs to lead the host Trojans. Kylen Cadian and Travis Inouye each had two hits for Mililani, which pounded out 13 hits.
